it starts all over

Well another year is upon us. Who knows what is in store for us . Probably more of the same rhetoric as the previous year.

Let's review a few things.
1. Unemployment has grown to over 10 %.

2. The national debt continues to soar.

3. The current administration has past a health care bill, which needs to be modified but still won't go into place for 3-4 years.

4. Terrorist continue to want to blow up airplanes.

Where will it all end ? We are going to finance a health care bill with additional debt. We can't hope to pay it back, because we can't create jobs, which creates tax collections to service the debt.

It's a vicious circle . Someone needs to wake up and smell the coffee, and I don't mean Starbucks. What ever happened to Folgers or Sanka ? These were good enough for our parents, but not us. Life was so much easier, back in the day. Americans made "stuff" and most people had a good life, but not now.
Life is to short, and we need to get back to some reasonable level of sanity. There is a reason that we have now been left behind.

I'm back again

Did you ever wonder what really is happening in the world today? What guides it, how do we make sense of it ? Well I have a theory, which I think is a damn good one.

It call randomness..... This is how I perceive things happen . Did you ever notice, you can't pick how your life will turn out, whether or not it'll be sunny tomorrow. etc.

Things happen for a reason, but is it in an orderly fashion or random. Randomness rules the world....People do random acts of kindness and/or acts of violence. Do we get to pick our family ?
Not hardly.

A lot of people think they can control the outcome of events that will happen in the future. They analyze data, put together plans, revises those plans and in the end it doesn't matter. Things will happen the way they are supposed to. Imagine if you can, the current administration in government, has a new future mapped out for us.
We have a stimulas program to lead us to economic recovery, but what really does it depend on ?
People without jobs and no money to spend. It will change when it supposed to, but everybody is analyzing the data .
What does the data say? It's incomplete, because nothing is going to plan................

ready to roll

The government is on to their next venture. Grants for education. I just don't understand this, they haven't even completed the overhaul of the health care system and now their on to education.

Pretty scary. Can't this government complete 1 thing. They must have ADD or something. A lot of the members of the new administration are part of this new generation. Their father's generation created a great country and we have to mess with it. Sure there are problems, but most of them are self induced .

The government's solution now is education. Everyone is going to be smarter and that will achieve what ? We will have better educated unemployed people. The MBA's now have figured out how to achieve better profits, with less heads. The problem is, most of these so called educated people still have a lack of basic socially redeeding values. The only thing they care about is money........

Thought if you believe Gordon Gecko, greed is good . My feeling is that no matter much money or power you have, you still will not live any longer than you should, If fact, you could make enemies , which could shorten that theory.

how to save the country

I was sitting here and just came up with a way we can solve all our country's ill.

Legalize grass. Remember prohibition, that worked real well. Well we learned that the best thing to do was relegalize booze. People were drinking it anyways. All we need top do is set up the national distribution channel .

The government could sell franchises, just like the hamburger stands. They charge an upfront fee(franchise) then an ongoing royalty based upon sales. The government could set up distributors to get the grass to the franchisees. We could have farmers grow grass, just like corn, soybeans etc, complete with subsidies.

The American dream.

Now a lot of people are going to say that this would be morally objectionable. Who cares.........
We now would have a new source of revenue for the government to spend, we could create more jobs for Americans, growing pot, and also would reduce our reliance upon foreign drugs, just like reducing imported oil.

With the government regulating this, it's a can't miss proposition. If it doesn't work who cares, we will be stoned anyways....

oblivious

I'm back again to vent on some things I've been thinking about. Have you noticed since the current administration has all the things that have started and completed? Amazing, we have the war solved in Iraq, the stimulus program is turning around the economy, GM 's now healthy and the health care crisis is almost solved.

Boy these guys really are cooking. Have you ever worked with someone like this, they solve all these problems but nothing ever works. They, like spin around in their chairs, and if they say it enough they will believe they have solved it. I guess this is what this generation is about. Smoke and mirrors........ Many times people try to tackle to many things and never get any of them right.

We live in the "richest" country in the world and better than half of the occupants can no longer afford to live here. There are only 2 classes in our society today, those who have, and those who don't. That's kinda sad. We give billions of dollars to other countries, try to fund medical research
on and on, but the one thing we can't do is help our own people, but if you listened to the people in charge they say we are on the right track...........

Have you ever thought about the following: the new health care thing will require people to but medical insurance or be penalized .... That make no sense. Most of the people that don't have coverage, don't have jobs... so no matter how affordable you make it, people need a place to live, food to eat etc.
While you are pondering the above, make sure you twirl around in your chair..............

tower of babel

I'm back again and ready to go.

Back in the news, an investment banking firm made record quarterly profits. I wonder how that happens. to stay alive these firms needed billions to stay afloat, and now 6-9 months later are making billions. Makes you wonder, doesn't it. How much is a billion dollars. Is this really cash money profits or just some paper entry made by some accountant.

I was talking to some people today about the GM and AIG . The amounts of money the government has pumped into them was astonishing. Did you ever wonder how two companies could burn thru 50-60 billion dollars. Where did that money go, I know I didn't get any. We have pumped all this money into 2 companies, and the unemployment rate went up. I know if the government pumped a couple of billion my way, I'd figure a way to put a couple of people to work.

While I'm on the subject of money, What ever happened to Bernie Madoff's 65 billion ? How could one individual burn all this money up. That's more than GM and AIG. Now the guy gets 150 years in prison. Why aren't all the GM and AIG guys in jail ? Is the government going to do a bailout of the Bernie Madoff investors?

We will probably have to revisit this later, but it seems to me nothing really make sence anymore, and probably never will.

why not

Have you ever wondered how our country has gotten so messed up ? Most people these days don't have a clue. I was reading that someone wants to eliminate smoking in the armed services. Give me a break, these guys go out there and get shot at/shoot at people and some moron is worried about smoking. If this doesn't pass then maybe there could be smoking and non smoking sections for battle zones. Someone could have the Geneva convention rewritten to say certain sections of the war zones must be non smoking. That will keep some well intentioned idiot from doing something productive.

While I'm on a tangent lets talk about health care. Has anyone really figured out what is going on. People are living too long. The doctors et al have figured out how to make people live longer . Back in the old days, you had cancer, heart attack etc you were gone. Now the health care system brings you back to life and puts you on a bunch of pills, that cost a fortune. The longer you live the more money it takes to keep going, which by the way is why social security is going broke. When it was originally set up they didn't expect everyone to live long enough to collect.

That's all for now.
